Last day before seeing Daddy

So William is 6.5 months here and he has not seen his daddy since he was 17 days old.  Can you tell he is excited?

Or maybe he just has some cute smiles.

For the Priesthood Commemoration Incentive for our Ward with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the boys were challenged to read scriptures with their fathers.  At first, I was a little discouraged by this because how could Trent benefit from this?  Dave was half way across the world and their lives rarely overlapped.  Well, we came up with a plan for Trent to stay up late and Dave to get up early and the two were able to read scriptures together through Skype.  It was VERY frustrating, but for 3 months, they sat through the 5 minutes of reading before the internet cut off (gotta love the middle east!) and they shared a special experience.  They grew together.  Trent changed and tolerated our situation.  He has Dyslexia and we saw many improvements in his reading abilities.  It was amazing.  As a result, we were surprised but Dave and Trent won!  They read more time together than any of the other dads and boys.  This was so special for Trent.  And below is the award they have kept for the last year.  Shortly, it will be time to pass on to a new father and son.
The week before Dave came home, I wanted to surprise him.  So his brother, brother in law, nephews and Dad came over and poured this pad of concrete.  They were so patient.  And then we set up his new grill.  I was so thankful for their help to provide something special for Dave.
His trip home was rather annoying.  He was supposed to leave the Middle East.  When he got to the airport, they informed him that his plane was canceled and the next time there would be an available flight out would be in 4 days.  He was devestated.  We had vacation plans and he had packed up and ready to leave it all behind.  Well, he sluncked back to his room in defeat.  The next day, he went to work and someone showed up.  They told him that if he could get to the airport in 20 minutes he could leave.  He rushed back, shoved stuff in his bags and made it to the airport.  2 days later, he finally arrived in the US.  He had to make a stop on his way home and then he made it.  The best posts of 2012 are yet to come!  The ones where our family after 3 years of on and off tours in the middle east was finally re-united for good.
